Anti Spam Policy

Spammers are not welcome here.

This should go without saying, but we’ll say it anyway: It’s not okay to harass others with spam. If you try to do so, we will block your access to our services. You will not receive a refund.

You probably already knew that spam is bad. And as an email recipient, you recognize it the moment you see it.

It’s important that you, as a sender, also know what spam is. We don’t want you to make the mistake of spamming someone using our services.

So let’s talk about what spam is and what happens if you send it through one of our services.

What is spam?

Ask this question to 10 different people, and you’ll likely get 10 different answers.

Email senders tend to use the textbook definition: Unsolicited Bulk Email (UBE). You can learn more about this definition at Spamhaus.

UBE is a useful definition: It makes it clear that some things that might be okay in one-on-one situations (like sending an email through your business to someone who has never heard of you) are not okay when sent in bulk.

But it’s not perfect. Many things aren’t UBE, but are considered spam by most people, including us.

Instead of trying to create a definition of spam that covers every possible scenario, we’d rather look at a few things we consider spam. We believe this will give you a pretty good idea of what you shouldn’t do.

What You Must Not Do on Any of Our Services

  • Do not send emails to people who have not explicitly requested this information from you.
  • Do not post irrelevant links to your website in discussion forums, newsgroups, or classified ad sites such as Craigslist.
  • Do not use email lists that you have purchased, rented, leased, or otherwise acquired from third parties. This includes email addresses obtained through co-registration.
  • Do not perform mass sign-ups, and do not attempt in any way to automate the addition of new subscribers to web form sign-up methods. (For more information on this, please see our Service Agreement.)

These aren't the only things we might consider spam, but they're a good starting point.
